In the 19 years of its work to date, the foundation has been able to support a total of 30 projects in developing countries, some of them several times. Most of the projects - as a form of good co-operation - came from the circle of associations and groups affiliated to the local „Stadtverband Eine Welt Bergisch Gladbach“. Primary schools and vocational training centres deserve special mention in this context. The foundation attaches particular importance to supporting projects for children and young people. We were very pleased that we were able to enable 20 orphans in Zimbabwe to complete their schooling in 2022.
The foundation has had many years of good experience in granting microloans to „micro-entrepreneurs“.“ As a result, numerous projects such as poultry farming, livestock breeding, plant breeding, sewing workshops, snack bars or the production of candied fruit and the sale of meals for field workers have been supported. A total of over 62,000 euros was disbursed for the supported projects.
As a consequence of the armed conflicts in Afghanistan and Syria, a large wave of refugees famously moved towards Europe, and Germany in particular, in 2015. The Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and its municipalities took on the basic provision for the people assigned there. In parallel, numerous associations and groups undertook various supplementary activities for refugees that could not be provided by public bodies. These activities primarily benefited women and children.
The Bergisch Gladbach One World Association received numerous requests for financial support for these activities. This led to the One World Association, the Bethe Foundation and the One World Foundation Rhein-Berg jointly setting up a special fund to support these refugee projects. The One World Foundation took over the administration of the fund; disbursements were made after the projects had been reviewed and approved by the three organisations mentioned. In total, 18 projects were supported with a total of almost 15,000 euros. Particularly noteworthy here are various projects for children, such as swimming courses, painting courses, museum visits and day trips in the Bergisches Land region. Offers in meeting places were also very well received, where refugee women met with local women in a relaxed atmosphere and were able to get advice.The Executive Board and the Board of Trustees of the One World Foundation Rhein-Berg would like to take this opportunity to thank the many loyal donors who have regularly given their donations to the foundation in full confidence. Without them, the foundation would not be able to achieve its goals.
In the eighteen years of the foundation's existence, it has also organised 22 charity events in various formats, such as music and theatre performances, information events and card game tournaments. Donations were also transferred from other charity events. In many cases, the artists waived their fees and royalties. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in organising these charity events for their commitment. In particular, we would like to thank the artists who wowed our audience with their skills at the events.
The Bethe Foundation (https://bethe-stiftung.org) has repeatedly doubled the income from various events - coupled with the aim of providing even better support for the selected projects. The Eine-Welt-Stiftung Rhein-Berg would like to take this opportunity to thank the Bethe Foundation for these project-related donations and for the trust they have placed in us.
The COVID-19 pandemic, high inflation, major swings in investments and, last but not least, the great political uncertainty caused by Russia's war against Ukraine have posed and continue to pose enormous challenges for charitable foundations such as the Eine-Welt-Stiftung Rhein-Berg.
The prevailing general uncertainty is leading to a clear reluctance on the part of the public to participate in charity events and to make donations. The willingness to volunteer in development cooperation projects is also limited in our area, especially among younger generations.

The term is intended to describe the situation of countries in the globalised world in a way that is as value- and hierarchy-free as possible.
