Many people turned out to hear the renowned pianist, composer, and music educator Carmen Daniela on 14 November 2023 at the Zeltkirche Kippekausen, despite the grimy autumn weather. Among those present were Mayor Frank Stein and honorary citizens Roswitha and Erich Bethe.
Carmen Daniela captivated the audience at this third joint benefit concert by the local „One World Scene“ in the acoustically and seating-wise unique tent church. In her usual style, she performed classical music with great virtuosity and passionate commitment. She was accompanied on some pieces by the young violinist Juliana Länger. Despite her youth, Juliana has already attracted international attention and showcased her talent during this performance. Both artists thrilled the listeners with a colourful and diverse concert programme and the requested encores, including works by Beethoven, Debussy, Dvorak, Rachmaninoff, and Tchaikovsky.
The Eine-Welt-Stiftung Rhein-Berg and the Stadtverband Eine Welt Bergisch Gladbach were cooperative organisers of this benefit event. Board member and honorary member Dettlef Rockenberg and the chairman of the foundation, Ernst Leffelaar, informed visitors about the roles, working methods, and supported projects of the two local umbrella organisations in One-World work and asked for donations for their charitable projects. The Kreissparkasse Köln and Bensberger Bank had each made a generous donation in advance for this concert. Mayor Frank Stein, as patron of this event and representative of the city of Bergisch Gladbach, which has also been a member of the Stadtverband for over 35 years since its founding, emphasised the importance of voluntary commitment, especially in the crucial One-World work, and called for support of the work and the diverse projects.
During a short break, drinks were served and the audience had the opportunity to get to know the female artists in a relaxed conversation, find out about the organisers' projects and try out offers from the One-World Shop in the forum.
A successful evening for everyone involved – also in terms of funding, as after deducting costs, a good €1,000 remained for the direct support of the current visually impaired project in Butembo, Congo, and €235 for the work of the city association.
Further details about the two artists as well as the two organisers of the local One World work can be found on the back of the attached flyer.
