Foundation

The impetus to found a (community) foundation for One World engagement in the region was given at the end of 2003 by the „Aktionskreis Eine Welt Kürten“ (Action Group One World Kürten). In the subsequent years, extensive preparatory work was carried out in collaboration with interested individuals and representatives of the "Stadtverband für Entwicklungszusammenarbeit Bergisch Gladbach e.V." (City Association for Development Cooperation Bergisch Gladbach Ltd.), an umbrella organisation for various One World groups.

The Eine-Welt-Stiftung Rhein-Berg (One World Foundation Rhein-Berg), based in Bergisch Gladbach, was recognised as having legal capacity by the District Government of Cologne on 29 August 2006, upon the handover of the foundation deed (as a „Independent foundation under civil law“).

The tax authorities have recognised the foundation's charitable status.

The foundation's purpose is to promote development cooperation. It aims to advocate for solidarity with the less developed parts of the world, raise public awareness of responsible partnership, and foster peaceful coexistence.

This charitable purpose is to be realised, for example, by

  • Support for groups and initiatives in the One World movement
  • Own projects and measures
  • Promotion of One-World Projects.
  • Improving living conditions in "One World" countries as self-help assistance
  • Coordination and support of joint development cooperation activities.

The One World Foundation aims to supplement and support the committed and successful One World work of individual groups and initiatives in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis, as well as to provide a supplementary financial basis for this work.

The foundation capital remains intact, thus securing the local One-World work in the long term.

Private financial power and commitment are bundled for the common good and, specifically, for the common ONE WORLD.

The permanent promotion of diverse charitable causes in the field of global development and long-term asset accumulation are important criteria that distinguish the foundation from other approaches to charitable engagement.

The patron of the One World Foundation has been the respective district administrator of the Rheinisch-Bergisch district since its establishment.

Anyone who is willing and keen to get involved should make themselves known. Furthermore, „donors“ are regularly sought so that the foundation capital to be preserved will also generate sufficient income for project work in the future. In addition to a donation to the foundation, it is of course also possible to donate directly to a specific project.
